Douglas Schneider
Based in California, Douglas Schneider’s oil and collage paintings combine both abstraction and realism. While this pairing may sound unusual, Schneider’s handling of figure and form explains it best. Images are rendered with intense precision and suddenly fall into simple strokes of textural paint. His collage work pulls from various sources including books, magazines and photographs. His paintings inspire shared memories that are presented as dreamscapes. HIs work can be found in numerous public and private collections throughout the world, including but not limited to, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), The Fisher Collection and The Anderson Collection.
